Entrepreneurship through Cooperative Movement Programme as a part of National Cooperative Week Celebration

The event saw participation of over 300 professionals championing the cause of cooperatives and the cooperative movement

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad in collaboration with AMUL and IFFCO celebrated the National Cooperative Week on Friday at EDII Campus.  The inaugural event of the programme, ‘Promoting Entrepreneurship through Cooperative Movement’ was graced by Chief Guest, Shri Anil Kumar Bayati, General Manager, AmulFed Dairy, Gandhinagar, Gujarat; Guest of Honour, Shri P M Meva, Chief Manager (Marketing), IFFCO, Kalol, Gandhinagar, Gujarat and Special Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Rana Singh, Director, Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP), Patna, Bihar. EDII, on this occasion, also entered into an MoU with this Institute.

The event saw participation of over 300 professionals championing the cause of cooperatives and the cooperative movement, students from universities including the Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Gandhinagar, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior, Udaan Trust of Social Work, Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad , startups, academia, entrepreneurs and policy makers.

Shri Anil Kumar Bayati, General Manager, AmulFed Dairy, Gandhinagar, Gujarat traced the genesis of Amul. He said, “It is a role model for cooperative Dairy Development. In a bid to transplant the spirit of Amul to other places, the ‘National Dairy Development Board’ was set up and the model was successfully replicated. Amul symbolizes the faith in the cooperative system which places the instruments of development in the hands of farmers.”

Shri P M Meva, Chief Manager (Marketing), IFFCO, said, “Across the world, cooperatives have contributed significantly to the economy of countries and have impacted development of societies. It was the only movement that was able to withstand against all socio-economic and political challenges and emerge as a winning strategy. It is a classic example of entrepreneurship and innovation, leading to empowerment.”

Prof. (Dr.) Rana Singh, Director, Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna emphasized on cooperative management as a significant academic discipline. He said, “Cooperatives must be inventive in order to be viable and empower their members based on their strengths and distinctive characteristics.  Cooperative enterprise is a domain that requires innovative minds as these enterprises also have to withstand cutthroat competition.”

Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII said, “With the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation to offer a distinct administrative, legal, and regulatory framework for the cooperatives, the cooperative movement in India is highly focused. Social capital is just as important as financial capital and to leverage on social capital, the cooperative movement is the strategy to depend on. AMUL and IFFCO have lived by the essence of cooperatives, i.e., empowerment of people, participatory management, democratic decision making and welfare of people.”

A panel discussion on ‘Emerging opportunities in Cooperative Entrepreneurship’ followed the inauguration. The panellists included Mr.  Rajiv Padia, Managing Director (Retd.), The Gujarat State Cooperative Bank & Management Consultant and Advisor; Dr. Anjani Kumar Asthana, Director, Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Gandhinagar, Gujarat; Dr. Amit Dwivedi, Associate Professor, EDII, Ahmedabad and Mr. Shree Kant Kumar, Entrepreneurship Expert, EDII, Ahmedabad. The discussions focussed on the tremendous benefits of cooperatives to societies and economies in terms of employment generation, wealth creation and optimum use of resources. The panellists brainstormed on the need for cooperatives to be innovative, strategic and entrepreneurial in their approach, given the changing contours of the economy and the markets within and outside the country.

An undergraduate program in Design is fast gaining prominence at a time when artistic creativity and a passion for technology and business are coming together to create user-friendly solutions that make day to day life simple for people.  SVKM’s NMIMS School of Design’s AICTE approved 4-year undergraduate B.Des. (Humanising Technology) program combines design with technology and cognitive and behavioural sciences to effectively serve business and social needs. It offers a transdisciplinary and holistic design curriculum with focus on a user-centric approach to design education, giving it a human touch. The program aims to equip students with multi-stream skill sets and knowledge to visualize 2D, 3D and 5D experiences.  The school has been ranked 5th among design schools of Maharashtra and 11th among design schools in India by Careers360 in 2022.

This has resulted in a steady outflow of pass outs who are not only artistic and creative, but also possess the ability to think strategically. The SVKM’s NMIMS School of Design is equipped with state-of-the-art studios, workshops, and modern labs like the Tinkering lab, Rapid Prototyping lab, XR (Extended Reality), and a usability lab for hands-on experience. Students are also offered internships in the industry which allows them to gain practical knowledge in the field of design. This exposure opens up several avenues and job opportunities in the field of consulting, hospitality, IT, banking, healthcare, education, and tourism, among other sectors. NMIMS’ School of Design achieved a 100% placement record for the second time in a row, wherein the students got placed in top companies. Walmart Global Technology Services India Private Ltd was among the new recruiters and offered a package of Rs. 20, 27,100 for the post of Associate Designer.

The school, with its transdisciplinary, value-based design education, equips the students with a global perspective in the competitive design world, inculcating an entrepreneurial mindset. Our comprehensive curriculum further sensitizes our students to the world of design. Microsoft and LinkedIn engage 7.3 million learners in India through Skills for Jobs program, to help 10 million people learn digital skills

Will provide free access to 350 courses, six new Career Essentials Certificates, and 50,000 LinkedIn Learning Scholarships

Microsoft and LinkedIn announced the next step in the Skills for Jobs program, providing free access to 350 courses and six new Career Essentials Certificates for six of the most in-demand jobs in the digital economy. Microsoft and LinkedIn will also be offering 50,000 LinkedIn Learning scholarships to help people get ahead in their skilling journey. By 2025, Microsoft will help train and certify 10 million people with skills for in demand jobs. Today’s launch builds on the Global Skills Initiative, which helped 80 million jobseekers around the world access digital skilling resources.

To date, Microsoft has engaged 14 million learners in Asia via LinkedIn, Microsoft Learn and non-profit skilling efforts. Of this, 7.3 million learners were from India. The top six LinkedIn Learning Pathways in India were: Critical Soft Skills, Software Developer, Data Analyst, Financial Analyst, Project Manager, and Customer Service Specialist.

Using data from LinkedIn and the Burning Glass Institute, Microsoft analyzed job listings to determine six of the roles in greatest demand for the program: Administrative Professional, Project Manager, Business Analyst, Systems Administrator, Software Developer or Data Analyst. The new courses and certificates will be offered in seven languages, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. This expansion builds on Microsoft’s commitment to supporting inclusive economic opportunity so learners around the world have equitable access to the skills, technology, and opportunity needed to succeed in a digitizing economy.

Microsoft’s new commitment to offer skilling support for the most sought-after digital jobs is aimed at enabling people and organizations to seize job opportunities, gain a competitive edge and emerge as trailblazers – as they contribute to a vibrant tech ecosystem and accelerate innovation needed for growth.

The new Career Essentials Certificates are designed to help learners bridge the gap from basic digital literacy to more advanced technical skills training and gain certifications that will be valuable to securing employment. Once a learning pathway is completed, learners will receive a LinkedIn badge to denote their certificate and indicate fluency in the skillset to employers.

All courses are available on LinkedIn at In addition, Microsoft-developed courses are also available on Microsoft Community Training (MCT) and in downloadable format for use on other Learning Management Systems (LMS) for nonprofit partners.

‘Push Sports’ students features prominently in Delhi U16 Selection Squad

Push Sports added another feather to its cap as it bagged three slots in the newly announced Under 16 Cricket Squad by Delhi. Sarthak Ray has been appointed the Vice Captain of the squad and he is joined by fellow PUSHERS Anindo Naharay and Harshvardhan Phogat among the 26 names announced by Delhi. The young cricketers will be representing Delhi U16 in the upcoming Vijay Merchant Trophy.

Puru Singh, Founder of Push Sports and former Delhi State Player said. “It is a moment of immense pride for us. While we coach and train the kids, their achievements show the result of their hard work and talent. Delhi U16 is a prestigious placement with a lot of competition for each of the slots. These results give us the energy to continue for better results in the future to identify and mentor talent at the grassroots.
