BYJU’S Education For All and Udayan Care come together to impart quality digital learning to children from underserved communities
The pan-India partnership aims at benefitting 1500+ children who come from different kinds of challenged backgrounds but aspire to study further

With an aim to educate and empower children from underserved backgrounds with quality education and equal learning opportunities, BYJU’S ‘Education for All’ social impact initiative has recently collaborated with Delhi-based child and youth care NGO, Udayan Care. Envisioned as a pan-India initiative, the partnership aims at distributing over 1500 licenses to underserved students – orphaned children from the Udayan Ghar Program as well as girls from resource-poor families from the Udayan Shalini Fellowship Program. The programs are spread across Chennai, Delhi, Dehradun, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Jaipur, Kurukshetra, and Kolkata.
Children from vulnerable families suffer innumerable challenges including little or no access to quality education. As part of this partnership, BYJU’S EFA and Udayan Care aim to apply various digital interventions and address accessibility challenges by providing free learning programs to students between classes 4-12. These students will have access to exclusive content on BYJU’S learning app that is personalized and digitally-enabled to suit every child’s learning requirement. The collaboration between BYJU’S and Udayan Care is another positive step towards achieving BYJU’S vision of empowering 10 million underserved children across India by 2025.
Udayan Care runs multiple programs to support underserved children and youth. Under the Udayan Ghar program, orphaned, abandoned and children without parental care are given care, protection and holistic development support upto 18 years of age. On turning 18, these young adults continue to be supported under the Udayan Ghar Aftercare program – where they are trained to start living independently as adults.
The Udayan Shalini Fellowship program is an education excellence and personality development program for girls from financially challenged backgrounds who are in peril of dropping out of the formal education system. It offers scholarships, personalized mentoring, and a curated program of trainings and workshops in life skills and employability skills.
Speaking about the collaboration, Mansi Kasliwal, VP-Social Initiatives, BYJU’S, said, “At BYJU’S, we believe in empowering children through equal learning opportunities irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds or locations. Our partnership with Udayan Care ensures digital learning tools are made accessible to homeless or orphaned children to help them pursue their dreams and aspirations. This collaboration is a step to reinforce our vision of bridging the digital divide in learning and we look forward to working with more such like-minded partners to bring about a better tomorrow. The objective is to be able to deliver a holistic program on the ground and ensure that children are not deprived of quality learning opportunities required for their overall growth and development”.
“BYJU’S Learning App has made learning so much fun. It has brought back the curiosity children have about the world. The app has helped our children to stay focused during the pandemic and has made learning enjoyable. It has also helped our children and youth to understand concepts better with visualization and constant support from the mentors”, says Anjali Hegde, Executive Director, Udayan Care.
Launched in 2020, BYJU’S flagship social impact initiative ‘Education for All’ aims at bringing about a positive systemic change to the education ecosystem. With a mission to empower 10 million underprivileged children by 2025, the initiative has already impacted 5.5 million childrenin the remotest corners of the country through 175+ NGOs across 400 districts. Reinforcing its dedication to providing girls with an equal opportunity to learn, nearly 50% of the beneficiaries of BYJU’S Education for All programs are girls.
BYJU’S Education For All
With an aim to make digital learning accessible to millions of children from underserved communities, BYJU’S, the world’s leading edtech company, launched its social impact initiative – Education for All in 2020. The program aims at democratizing education by ensuring that children across all economic backgrounds get equal access to quality learning opportunities. The “Education for All” initiative serves to enable students from underserved and economically deprived communities with a better chance at upward social and economic mobility. This initiative aims at bridging the educational and digital divide by making quality learning accessible to the children in need.
With over 175+ partners like American India Foundation, United Way, Right to Live, Magic Bus, SOS, Save the Children, CRY and more across 400 districts in India, the program has created a positive impact and reached over 55 lakh students in the last 1 year across the country. BYJU’S has also partnered with NITI Aayog to provide free access to its tech-driven learning programs for children from “aspirational districts” of the country. The company aims to accelerate its impact in reaching children who have no access to learning both on its own and through partnerships. For more information: https://byjus.com/educationforall/

Innovative Ideas and Breakthroughs from NMIMS MPSTME Civil Engineering
The department has published two patents, research papers at international conferences

The Civil Engineering department of NMIMS MPSTME has been making significant strides in the field of disaster management, flood resilience, and sustainable infrastructure. The department has published two patents, research papers at international conferences, and completed several student-led projects on topics such as renewable energy, groundwater modelling, and self-healing concrete.
The first patent, ‘Automated Flood Water Regulating Multipurpose System,’ proposes a novel approach to flood resilience by constructing multipurpose wells on the banks of rivers to discharge excess water and generate hydropower. The second patent, ‘Aqua Barrier,’ is an automated mechanism that can protect any flood-prone area, regardless of its size, from any disasters caused due to water.
The student-led projects are equally impressive, with topics ranging from low-volume rural concrete roads to oscillating tidal wave energy converters. These projects showcase the department’s focus on sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and innovative design.
The faculty at NMIMS MPSTME Civil Engineering department, led by Head, Dr. Meenal Mategaonkar and Research coordinator, Dr. Jigisha Vashi, played a vital role in guiding and mentoring students toward research excellence. Their expertise and guidance have enabled students to participate and win awards in prestigious competitions such as the CDRI’s ‘Imagining Disaster Resilient Structures’ and The University of Queensland’s ‘Engineering Design Challenge, and AAKAR at IIT Bombay.’
